Why being a Virgo makes me a great personal stylist

Updated: Sep 11
If you type ‘Virgo Character Traits’ into Google you will get the following:
Analytical
Practical
Reliable
Detail Driven
Deep Thinkers
AI Overview, I feel seen. I am absolutely all of these things and in part, it’s what makes me really suited to being a colour analyst and personal stylist.
Now I know that not everyone can or will get on board with astrology and a lot of people find it a bit ‘woo’…and that’s fine. But I am quite into the woo.
My belief, is that if the position of the sun, the moon and the stars can move whole bodies of water and dictate which flowers and crops will grow and when. Then, for me it follows, that as organic beings, this celestial positioning could also have an effect on our psyche and temperament.
Virgos are born at the point where our ancestors would have been at their busiest, preparing for harvest and the oncoming chill. The point where we go back to school and transition from the dog days of summer to the freshness of Autumn. We are about preparing for new starts, new seasons, transitions and what is to come. Of course a Virgo is the person to help you prepare an Autumn capsule wardrobe or find an outfit for your son’s wedding.
The clue is also in the title I guess. I am a colour analyst and I focus on offering practical and realistic advice and solutions as a personal stylist. So far, so Virgo.
Virgo thrives on routine, simplicity and detail and by creating order out of chaos. Virgo doesn’t like clutter and inefficiency and we love to be helpful. Is it any wonder then, that I have chosen to organise and edit other people’s wardrobes for a living?
Virgo likes a job where she isn’t centre stage, instead she likes to be the hidden hand making other people shine. I had a previous life as a fashion and consumer PR consultant for many years. Your job as a PR is about making people, brands, things look great from behind the scenes. Perfect for me and perfect for the job I do now. I’ll do the research, the mood-board, the analysis, you go and look fabulous for a day at the races.
Next, look at Virgo’s love language, it is ‘acts of service’. Virgo doesn’t make demonstrations of love through words or public displays of affection. We are the ‘Girl Fridays’ who show it by providing practical help and advice and, by making life easier for our loved ones.
If Virgo loves you, she won’t necessarily tell you or give you a big hug. She will however make sure that your suit gets taken (and picked up) from the dry-cleaner and she will know when your passport expires, long before you’ve even thought about it.
Now I’m not suggesting that I love all my clients (although I am extremely fond of them), but I do love a job that makes me feel that I’m making life easier for people and offering practical and workable solutions.
The detail-driven, deep-thinking Virgo, who loves to feel useful, will make it her life’s work to provide you with a really considered and thoughtful capsule wardrobe edit. She’ll give you a highly researched, meticulous and detailed mood-board, which will make you look the very best you can for your 40th birthday celebrations, your wedding anniversary in Greece or your return to the office after maternity leave.
Virgo will think deeply about whether your body shape would best suit a boat or a halter neck an empire line or a cinched waist. On her morning walk (Virgo loves a morning walk), she’ll consider whether you’d look better in cornflower or chambray blue. She’ll remember that you’re not a fan of floral prints and zip fastenings and that your favourite item of clothing ever, was a butter-yellow dress that you wore the night you met your partner.
One of my closest and most insightful friends (the most Leo of Leos) says that everyone needs a Virgo in their life and I would agree. But particularly if you’re looking for a colour analysis and wardrobe edit.
